The Empress's Gigolo - Chapter 715: Wuji City (Part 2)
Chapter 715: Wuji City (Part 2)
Facing someone like him, nobody could withstand his manipulation, not even Ren Baqian, the empress, or anyone in the entire imperial court other than Shi Qing.
This was regardless of whether it was his keen political acumen, emotional quotient, or foundation of culture.
Even though Ren Baqian was already being very careful, the old man still managed to gather quite a few details simply by chitchatting.
The old man might not even be intentionally using such means to worm facts out him. However, he was somehow able to get some indication from Ren Baqian’s responses.
This should be considered his instinct.
After chatting for three hours and having a very ordinary dinner, Ren Baqian made arrangements with the old man for the next day’s meeting before leaving with Lin Qiaole and the empress.
“I’m hungry. Let’s eat.” The empress spoke as soon as they left the house.
The food at the dinner table wasn’t enough for her.
The food had been finished in an instant.
They woke Lin Qiaole up and went to look for food together. They went to a hotpot restaurant and finished all their food. Yang Sen’s eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
The lodging had been arranged at a pretty good hotel, though they had no idea how it was planned. There were only two suites booked.
Ren Baqian pondered for a moment and thought about whether he or the empress should share a suite with Lin Qiaole.
“What are you thinking about?” The empress glanced over at him while taking the elevator.
“I’m thinking about whether Lin Qiaole should share a room with you,” Ren Baqian answered bluntly.
“No,” she immediately declined without hesitation.
“That leaves you with sharing a suite with me.” Ren Baqian looked at Lin Qiaole with disdain. If she were Xin Zhe instead… It could be said that Xin Zhe’s figure was more worthwhile to see than Lin Qiaole’s. Furthermore, Xin Zhe wore glasses!
From any angle that one looked at her, she definitely looked better than Lin Qiaole, who only knew how to eat and sleep!
“You will share a suite with me!” The empress looked at him.
“That sounds good!” Ren Baqian immediately smiled.
He was fully supportive of this idea.
However, since it was a suite, there was a living room and a bedroom. Ren Baqian naturally assumed that it was only right for him to occupy the sofa.
It was of his own accord!
Really!
As both of them sat on the sofa, Ren Baqian suddenly became full of emotion. He then raised a question and asked, “What do you wear to bed, Your Majesty?”
The empress blushed, rolled her eyes at him, and asked, “Do you wish to see?”
Ever since the wedding date had been set, she seemed to be trying to get used to certain topics and wasn’t as sensitive about them anymore.
“Of course!” Ren Baqian immediately nodded. Subsequently, the empress sent him flying into the wall with a kick.
“I would be lying if I said that I didn’t want to see. Wouldn’t you be angry with me if I said that I didn’t want to?” Ren Baqian asked as he rubbed his nose.
She gave some serious thought to this question and replied, “I’d kill you.”
“Then why did you still kick me for wanting to see?” He felt wronged.
“Kick.” The empress gave a succinct reply.
Ren Baqian was speechless.
He would still have taken a beating in either case, right?
“When can you start being a little more reasonable, Your Majesty?” he lamented.
“Now you are saying that I’m unreasonable?” The empress looked at him and sneered.
Ren Baqian could feel the difference between the dating and marriage phases after hearing what she said.
If he continued reasoning out the principles with her, he reckoned that he wouldn’t end up in a good situation.
The discussion of this matter was a mistake from the start, and a mistake had to be corrected.
“It’s my fault! Everything Your Majesty said is right! Anyone who dares to defy you shall die!”
Ren Baqian immediately gave a solemn response.
“What are your thoughts after meeting that man today?” He changed the topic.
“Too weak!” The empress gave this response without any hesitation.
As with other aspects, Ren Baqian and the empress had different areas of concern.
Naturally, their conclusions were substantially different as well.
They watched television late into the night before the empress swayed her body into the bedroom. Ren Baqian leaned against the sofa and watched as the door closed. He counted the time and realized that it was about eight months away from their wedding. It was still a long time away.
The next morning, a car came to pick up the trio after breakfast and took them to the most mysterious place in the entire capital.
Ren Baqian was filled with curiosity during the journey and even felt a little nervous.
However, after they arrived at their destination, he realized that it was rather different from what he had imagined.
There were sentry posts everywhere, which was pretty similar to what he expected.
The scenery was rather nice as well.
As for the other parts of the place, just like this house, many famous places also looked like ordinary houses on the outside.
This place had some historical value and could probably be opened up for the public to visit if it were located elsewhere. Other than that, there wasn’t anything special about the house that would pique the interest of others.
The only thing truly worth caring about was the person inside.
In a reception pavilion, Ren Baqian finally saw the old man’s successor. He researched that man on his phone the night before and hence knew a little about him.
He was around 10 years younger than the old man, but he had a headful of white hair.
When both of them stood together, it was really hard to tell who was the older one and who was the younger one.
“We have hosted presidents and VIPs from all over the world in this place, but this is the first time we are hosting people like you. I have to record this in the annals!” The other party immediately laughed.
Ren Baqian had never really thought about this before—whether he would be recorded in Earth’s annals.
However, even if he was, it would probably be a piece of history that nobody knew about.
It would be like those facts and people who passed into oblivion throughout history.
The situation was a little different from the solemn conversation that Ren Baqian had expected. After the four of them met, they simply sat down in the room and chatted. It was as if they were meeting just to get acquainted with each other.
The other party didn’t talk about work matters since it seemed like he had plenty of that to deal with every day.
Ren Baqian didn’t believe that they were spending time here simply to get acquainted with each other.
After a simple lunch, they finally got down to proper business.
“What happened this time was negligence on our part, and it got you into some trouble. Even though you weren’t harmed, it has affected you mentally. After this incident, we will tighten our security for this matter.”
The empress immediately voiced out and said, “I don’t need you. I will deploy 1,000 men from the paradise and keep them here.”
Her words were very direct because she didn’t want to beat around the bush with him. That wasn’t her style of doing things.
She didn’t test him out, didn’t give him any leeway for a response, and simply stated what she wanted to bring across.
If they were ordinary people, 1,000 wouldn’t seem like much.
However, 1,000 experts would be a big concern.
They looked attentively at the empress and back at Ren Baqian without voicing a direct objection.
That man pondered slightly and said, “1,000 isn’t a small number. I’m afraid it’s going to be difficult to make this arrangement. After all, they aren’t ordinary people and will easily get into trouble with the civilians.”
“I’m not asking!” the empress immediately replied.
The other party laughed. If it wasn’t a request, then it must be a notification.
However, even though the other party was a little surprised by what the empress said, he wasn’t surprised by her attitude. After all, given her power, he would only find it weird if she spoke to him like a politician.
Letting 1,000 of these people into the nation would probably cause huge problems.
…
Two hours later, Ren Baqian and the empress finally left the pavilion.
The other party agreed to let the empress deploy 1,000 experts to the nation.
In fact, he found it difficult to reject as well.
However, toward the end of the meeting, they actually ended up discussing another matter: building another city within the nation.
Wuji City!
Or Wuji District!
As the name implied, one could tell the usage and purpose of this city.
It would be the location of peak martial arts.
Not only could it be a temporary place to house those 1,000 experts, the nation’s current base for practicing martial arts could also be relocated there.
This would be a city of martial arts experts that wasn’t open to the public.
Once the practice of martial arts had expanded, this place would become the center of all martial arts experts in the world.
Looking at it from another angle, Ren Baqian, the empress, and those 1,000 men would then support the reputation of that place.
With those 1,000 men, this place would become the goal of all the martial arts experts in the nation or even the world.
For the future of a world that was constantly changing, the value of this city could be said to be priceless.
At the same time, the government could also make use of this place to house people whom they had problems dealing with.
Ren Baqian started to suspect that they had long been considering this matter.
However, regardless of whatever it was, it seemed like he was setting out on a task to make arrangements for the future in concert with the government.
The rewards would be huge.
Of course, Ren Baqian also made a few other agreements with the other party.
They had a lot to gain as well.
