Chapter 435: The Black Demon Star is Gone?
The man named the Pure Yang Immortal Swordsman was indeed the legendary Lü Dongbin.
Nonetheless, he had to give up and sheathe his sword after being held back by several other immortal swordsmen, and said flatly, “Fine. I could hardly pacify the crowd if I had cut you down right now. Even so, I’ll say it again—after returning to the homeworld, the priority is to repel the Hundred Races Alliance. I will cut you down if you act out of line!”
The truth was that the Immortal Foxes were actually terrified.
They would not have been afraid if it were any other Golden Immortals.
The problem here was that not only was Lü Dongbin powerful, but he was actually just short of reaching the level of the White Sky God King, who was of the God race. Moreover, he had strong roots as he had been Lord Donghua in the last life, a great general who had served the Jade Emperor himself.
Naturally, the authority of the Celestial Court was above all.
Since the Throne of Six Holies usually did not usually made decisions, all regulations and formations on the celestial battlefield were therefore controlled by the Celestial Court. Even the disciples of the Saints had to give face and address the Jade Emperor as Martial Uncle.
And with this man being backed by the Jade Emperor, would the Green Hill Foxes dare to not give face?
Most importantly, Lü Dongbin was one of the Eight Immortals.
It was a title famous in the celestial battlefield, for all Eight Immortals were elites among Golden Immortals and bore a strong attachment to each other, even working together to cut down a Demon King before.
Nonetheless, after some words of rebuke, Lü Dongbin added, “No hurries, Brothers. We’ll leave once my eldest brother arrive.”
“What?”
A Golden Immortal exclaimed softly in surprise. “Is the Potion King returning as well? Are all Eight Immortals returning to the home world?”
The Potion King naturally referred to the first of the Eight Immortals, Iron Crutch Li.
He went by many names: Li Tieguai, Floodwater Li, Li Xuan, and Li of the Condensed Sun or whatnot. Still, people mostly addressed him as the Potion King.
He was incredibly accomplished in the art of pellet refinement, and most Grand Luo would go to him to cook pellets.
That was why even if he was the first of the Eight Immortals, his status in the celestial battlefield would not lose out at all to a Grand Luo.
“Of course.”
Lü Dongbin nodded openly.
Another Golden Immortal laughed. “With the Eight Immortals gathered, even Grand Luo would fall—it seems that we would definitely succeed in repelling the legion of the Hundred Races Alliance, and cut them down to size.”
“We must not be careless.”
Lü Dongbin said somberly, shaking his head, “We were not a part of the battle before, but we were aware that the Hundred Races had put everything on the line. They were forced to return empty-handed with the homeworld sealed, and they are definitely not going to hold back if another war ignites.”
“I have even heard rumors that the White Sky God King of the God Race and Modolo of the Demon race had pulled out of the celestial battlefield. I’m afraid that they would be a part of the battle.”
“Those two are prodigies of their respective races and boast the power to fight Grand Luo. It would be a tough fight since they would be joined by the other Golden Immortals of the other races.”
The many Golden Immortals put on somber looks then.
In the battlefield between worlds, humans were not actually weak. In terms of ability, neither the God race nor the Demon race were a match for them, but should those two races combine forces, and be joined by many other races, humans would still face a disadvantage.
Human immortals were far outnumbered by the Alliance.
Of course, the so-called ‘humans’ were merely an umbrella term.
After all, it was not just humans who stepped out of the homeworld. Daemons were not in the few, and there was a time when they were rulers of Earth, not to mention that there were Shamans and Bloods who hailed from Earth as well.
Be that as it may, the Bloods had declared themselves an independent race and occupied a small world in the universe. The Blood Ancestor, their leader, was incredibly powerful and was considered the strongest beneath the Saints.
He had betrayed the humans and defected to the Demon race, becoming their vassal and hence reduced to infamy in the celestial battlefield.
Soon, seven figures hurried to the scene.
Lü Dongbin took to the skies to receive them.
With the Eight Immortals gathered…
“Let’s go!”
After a little small talk, Iron Crutch Li cut to the chase and said, “I have received word that the legion of the Hundred Races Alliance has begun to gather at Black Demon Star in the Sky Demon System. They would soon attack our homeworld, and so we shall depart post-haste without delay!”
Oom!
The glimmer of the portal shone and many figures entered it.
***
The Sky Demon Planetary System.
A million kilometers away from where the Black Demon Star had been, Wang Hou and Wang Xiao’Er, otherwise known as the Ten Thousand Swords Daoist, had withdrawn their aura and cloaked their figures as they stealthily hurried on their way.
However…
Wang Hou frowned lightly and quietly muttered, “What is going on?”
“Are the Alliance that arrogant?”
“No scouts are watching the nearby space? Aren’t they afraid that elites of Earth would ambush them?”
The Ten Thousand Swords Daoist replied with a pained smile, “It’s not arrogance on part of the Alliance… the homeworld simply doesn’t have the forces to launch an attack, and the Alliance knows that very well…”
“That being said…”
The Ten Thousand Swords Daoist’s tone changed at that in slight surprise. “We are not far from the Black Demon Star. It’s a midsized living planet with a diameter exceeding a hundred thousand kilometers, and both you and I can glimpse it from a distance now.”
Studying the Star Map closely, he tried to ascertain that he was not going the wrong way.
And yet…
The Black Demon Star was not there.
Soon, both men advanced a few hundred thousand kilometers more.
Charging his mystic powers to cast a Sky Eye, immortal light surged from the Ten Thousand Swords Daoist’s eyes as he looked out into the distance. Thanks to the directions of the star map, he had located the planets surrounding the Black Demon Star.
Even though he had confirmed the coordinates on the star map, he could only locate the planets around the Black Demon Star but not the planet itself.
“Something’s not right!”
The Ten Thousand Swords Daoist cried out in somber surprise, “Where is the Black Demon Star? Where has it gone too?”
Wang Hou turned to look at him and asked quietly, “What happened, Brother Ten Thousand Swords?”
Nullifying his mystic technique in disbelief, the Ten Thousand Swords Daoist said uncertainly, “I was following the star map and the planetary coordinates to the letter, but I couldn’t find the Black Demon Star… could the Alliance have put up an array or some technique to hide it?”
“Even so, it’s a living planet with a diameter of over a hundred thousand kilometers. Hiding it would not be a simple matter… why would the Alliance do this?”
Wang Hou appeared thoughtful and said, “Could Jiang He have done it?”
“Impossible!”
The Ten Thousand Swords Daoist said confidently. “He may be powerful, but could the Black Demon Star be so easily shattered? Leaving aside whether the legion of the Alliance had really gathered here, the Black Demon Star is usually defended by their champions as it is a strategic fortress… eh?”
“What is that?”
Even before he could finish, his eyes were abruptly glaring ahead.
He could vaguely see…
A corpse.
It was a massive corpse that resembled an insect. It had a hardened pitch-black shell armor, but it was in pieces as if someone had sliced it with a sword.
Brown blood has dyed the surface of the shell.
The Ten Thousand Swords Daoist quickly went to it, his expression changing as he explained, “A Golden Immortal Insectoid. The blood on its body had yet to dry, meaning that it was dead for less than five days… judging from its wounds, it was wounded by dispersing Sword Qi, and it seems that it was wounded in spirit as well.”
The Ten Thousand Swords Daoist soon concluded after checking the corpse.
Nevertheless, his own findings had stunned him and he exclaimed in astonishment, “It must have been wounded by Sword Qi and maimed in its soul. After that, it escaped with a secret technique, but his consciousness crumbled before it made it far, and collapsed here.”
“A dispersal of Sword Qi could maim a Golden Immortal Insectoid… could a Grand Luo have attacked?”
“Gasp!”
As if thunderstruck, Wang Xiao’Er stumbled hundreds paces backwards and exclaimed in terror, “The Grand Luo are fighting? Are the Alliance now ignoring the agreement between the Saints?!”
Wang Hou himself then walked up and had a few looks at the corpses.
He felt the Sword Qi lingering over the Golden Immortal Insectoid’s body and chuckled, “Don’t panic, Brother Ten Thousand Swords. The Sword Qi must have been a mark left by Jiang He, and he must have blown up the Black Demon Star too. It seems that he is fine.”
The Ten Thousand Swords Daoist came to his senses and looked at Wang Hou as if he was mentally handicapped.
Who gave you that confidence?
Hoho.
Was Jiang He really that terrific?
His Sword Qi alone could kill a powerful Golden Immortal Insectoid?
If he really had that sort of power, didn’t that mean…
He could fight Grand Luo on equal footing?
